Jameson learns to make popcorn

Making popcorn is a Vieke tradition and Jake is already showing Jameson the ropes! He looks pretty eager to learn!

You Think you know a kid...

In the 6 and a half months that I have spent every single day with my baby boy, Jameson he has never willingly taken a pacifier. I tried to get him to use one for a while, but he decided his thumb was a better option for bedtime soothing and I am ok with that. It works. He would make disgusted faces when offered a pacifier. Well now we are fighting the teething beast. My lord, that stuff is serious business! I was so excited on Monday when I discovered the little itty bitty beginnings of a tooth (his bottom left). One day later I am wishing that puny little bugger had never come around. What I hate the most is Jameson being in pain. He is just feeling yucky, add on the fact that he is battling an eye infection. He cries when I even try to lay him down for 30 seconds to change his diaper, which he normally loves, strangely enough. So tonight I had an idea. I pull out the drawer that has the barely used pacifier stash. Ta-da! Now I'm not saying this pacifier worked miracles and put a smile back on Jameson's face, but boy oh boy did he go to town on that thing. He is likely to chew the tip off! What's great is it's like a handsfree teething ring. What's really funny is even though I am glad it is giving him some relief, I am secretly hoping he doesn't want to keep it around too long. Isn't it funny how things change? The great thing about the hard work of growing teeth is the extra cuddles for Mama, I can't say I'm disappointed when he won't let me put him down. We actually had a night out planned, but I couldn't stand to leave my baby, but I do have to say thank you to my brother Mick for being willing and then letting me cancel on him. Next time Mick!
It looks so odd to see that pacifier in his mouth!

To garden or not to garden?

A quick update on Jameson's 6 month stats after his pediatrician appointment yesterday. He is weighing in at 19 pounds, which puts him in the 75th percentile. He is also 28 inches long (still 95%). He is always wiggling around and every time you glance at him he seems to be in a new position. I think we might be close to cutting some teeth because he has really started to do a lot of chewing on anything and everything. He has become a pro at blowing raspberries, grabbing at toys and iPhones, and sitting up.

We spent another weekend in Nashville. Jake enjoyed a day at the airshow, while Jameson gave plenty of kisses and hugs to Kiki and her mother-in-law, Mimi. Jake was also utilized as IT support for most of the weekend, which he loves and we also managed to squeeze in some time with friends. Jameson especially enjoyed having two more dogs to play with (Packman and Archie).

I had a great first Mother's day as well. When I came home from work Jameson (with the help of Jake and Uncle Matt) had made me a mosiac stepping stone with his tiny little handprints. It is too cute and I will have to post a picture soon. I really want to put it somewhere where I can see it often, so I am still trying to decide on the perfect spot for it. I feel so lucky to be called a mother and Jameson is such a sweetheart that he makes it a true pleasure.

Whether or not to plant a garden this year is still up for debate. I took a break from it last year because I didn't want to be pulling weeds in 100 degree weather 7 months pregnant. We probably should have started it a few weeks ago, but I think we may try and pull it together here in the next couple of days, if I decide to put the effort into it. We do have a thriving strawberry plant and onions from a few years back, but I would like to add a few tomatoes and peppers, maybe a few other things. I'm exhausted already!

Good Morning!

There is no better time of day than the morning. There is something so sweet and simple about mornings that just fill me with happiness and here are the reasons why:*Coffee*Coffee while still in my pajamas :)*Good Morning America and Live! with Kelly*Breakfast... yum, omelettes, crepes, yogurt, granola and fruit. Pancakes.*Birds chirping outside my window*Waking up next to the love of my life and sleepy kisses goodbye*Quietly waiting in Jameson's room for him to wake up. I can't help myself. If he isn't quietly waiting on me to come and greet him, I can't help but stand there and admire him in his crib, thumb in his mouth. *Jameson's sleepy eyes, and wide-mouthed yawns *That first hug in the morning, it always last a little longer and feels a little sweeter.

There is no better time of day to count God's blessings!

Little Boy

Who is this child who can sit up? Definitely not my little baby I met 6 months ago. So hard to believe how much he has changed. Enjoy!
