Sometimes it's good to be an adult

Because even though I felt like a kid waiting for Christmas I realized I really didn't have to wait! So after having the unopened box in my garage for nearly two weeks I finally broke out Jameson's birthday present. Seriously people, I can't believe I even made it this long! Can I just say it is his due date present? He may not have shown up but we can still celebrate, right? Needless to say when he dive bombed into it this morning with a giggle I definitely knew I made the right choice!

Tiffani is a saint! Jameson was a total wiggleworm, as expected, during his haircut, but she got the job done! He mostly needed trimmed up in the back (his hair was practically shoulder length back there) so it difficult to see major difference, at least from the front. I am sad that I can't twirl his little locks anymore and run my fingers through that little mullet in the back. But he sure does look awfully cute!

Meanwhile...

I've worn around the nickname little miss perfect for quite some time. Sometimes I hear it from friends, most often from family. Well I hate this nickname. Most people may think my life appears perfect because I am pretty good about not sharing the imperfections. So I am turning over a new leaf, because it's fall y'all :) No seriously, I want make an effort to be more transparent when sharing the details of my life. Why? I am daily reminded that there is none more perfect than Christ and I want others to be reminded of that too. We definitely carry around too much regret, guilt, and self-doubt, myself included. With this being said, I also want to be more vocal about my faith. I have had a pretty good stretch of years where my faith has been a second or third or even lesser priority in my life and our small family is working to change that and get back to where we once were. I hope you still want to follow along!

We had another great weekend at the cabin, other than the one totally terrible, absolutely awful thing that happened. My mind keeps replaying it, watching my baby boy tumble and hit every single step, each one adding a new crack in my breaking heart. The worst part is that there were precautions in place and it still happened, the baby gate was up and I was less than a foot away. Regardless, Jameson only has a few bruises and one scratch and was up happily playing not 5 minutes later. I'm still recovering. BOYS!

The big first birthday is approaching, barely more than a week until Jameson turns one and less than 2 weeks until the celebration. My mind keeps me up at night making lists and thinking of things to do, I am so excited, and Jameson really has no idea! We are blessed to have such a big and supportive family to share the day with. Let the countdown continue!

I have been sporadic about taking pictures this last week. Jameson had a playdate at the pumpkin patch one day last week while I was at work. The pictures tell me he enjoyed himself!

Everything still goes straight in the mouth!

Behind

Once again I have fallen behind. So let's catch up! Here are Jameson's 11 month pictures!!

Are we done yet?

This kid is scheduled for his first haircut next week so in next month's pics he will no longer look like a baby. Next up... big boy!

Thankful Thursday

I have tears in my eyes. She has tears in hers. My entire day has lead me to this, one last special moment that I will savor when I need it most.

It may seem like a simple question "would you like to hold her?". Her mother anxiously asks if she is well enough and I remind her there is no better place for her daughter than to be in her arms. I reunite mother and tiny baby who have been apart for far too long. This is the absolute best part of my job.

I place the tiny baby, connected to dozens of wires and cords and multiple machines, on her mama's chest. One simple question has lead to a beautiful, emotional and raw moment that makes me so thankful on this Thursday to have experienced it.

Boys...

This is the fun they find when daddy is in charge of entertainment while I was busy with the wedding rehearsal. An old fire escape!

Wedding weekend

I feel as though I have been neglecting our little blog lately! I will try to do better, but that is just how it goes when life is so full. This weekend was spent celebrating my cousin's wedding. It was absolutely beautiful and such a special day. Stephanie looked stunning and everything went off without a hitch, plus I love getting to spend time with all my cousins, including Logann who came in from Philadelphia. There is nothing better than being surrounded by family!

Sunday was just the best because we got to do absolutely nothing! I can't remember the last time this happened for our family as a whole. We spent the day cuddled up inside just relaxing which was very much needed and even started a Lord of the Rings Marathon, although we didn't even finish the first one. A little rest and relaxation was just the right way to spend the day.

We have less than one month until Jameson's first birthday! At 11 months old Jameson is getting better at walking each and every day and continues to try his hardest to catch the dogs. He absolutely cannot stand to have has diaper changed and gets mad when bathtime is over. His favorite pasttimes include feeding the dogs, looking out the sliding glass door, reading books, mastering stairs and talking (although most is still just gibberish). He has become quite attached to Neville (his stuffed donkey) or really anything that is soft, including his pillow pet. He sleeps 12-13 hours at night, most days takes two naps, and still takes 3 bottles. He has graduated to size 4 diapers and wears 12-18 month clothes and wears a 4.5 shoe. He continues to be an absolute joy! His smile still melts my heart (we are at 7 teeth now) and his laugh is simply music to my ears.

It seems that with the coming of Jameson's birthday and the holidays quickly approaching that the year has just flown by. I don't thinks things are going to slow down for us yet and so I will continue to enjoy the ride!

Cabin weekend season!

It's finally fall, which means our family takes every opportunity to spend a weekend at the cabin that we can. Last weekend our good friends from Nashville, Travis, Brittany and Owen, were sweet enough to make the long trek for a quick weekend out at the cabin. We had a great time with s'mores, spiked apple cider and pumpkin painting (an update on our pumpkin carving tradition). The boys had a blast (big and small). And forgive me for picture overload, but I think they speak to the weekend much better than I do!
