Boone Co. 4H

I took Jameson to visit the Brownlee's at the fair this week. This kid is fearless! He instantly stuck his hand out to pet any animal I showed him. It was too cute. He never had any fear, mostly interest. Maybe we have a future vet?

Miramar beach

I am long overdue in posting about our fantastic trip to Miramar beach, Florida. It was our second annual Hirschfeld Family vacation. My parents rented a house for us all to stay in, including Will and Ann and Mick and Shelby. After looking at flight prices Jake and I decided to drive. On the way down we stopped and stayed the night in Nashville which was a nice way to break up the trip, but when we got there on Saturday afternoon we were definitely exhausted and Jameson was definitely over being cooped up in the carseat. The best news was that it was beautiful and not stifling hot like it has been in Indiana. Will, Ann, Mick and Shelby greeted us at the house and made dinner for everyone once my parents arrived. We spent the next week mostly alternating between spending our time at the beach and the pool. The pool was right out the backdoor which was great because I could still hear Jameson on the monitor if he was napping. I even got to sneak off to the beach a couple of afternoons during naptime because someone was usually willing to hang around the house. The beach was right across the street and absolutely perfect. We rented 4 chairs and two umbrellas for the week which was great because we didn't have to lug them back and forth and they set them up right at the water. The breeze was amazing and the water was crystal clear. Jake even got some underwater video of two manatee that swam by with Will's go-pro! It was too cool. Jameson enjoyed the beach, but definitely prefered the pool and since it was much easier we spent more of our time there. We also went out to dinner a few nights and found the cutest little town, Seaside. They filmed The Truman Show there and it is literally a little slice of heaven on earth. We found some cute little boutiques to shop and there was a great outlet mall just a few blocks from our house. Everyone was happy! Will was fishing, Ann and I were at the beach, Jake was doing a lot photography, Mick and Shelby were combing the ocean for treasure and mom and dad were sightseeing! A little bit for everybody. We also took one morning to go paddleboarding at a nearby lake. I really thought that was fun, other than Jake losing his prescription ray-bans, and would love to do it again, maybe on the ocean. We were all sad to go, but happy when we got home. We decided to make the trip back in one day and it was extremely exhausting but Jameson did so well for 15 hours in the car! I haven't been so happy to see my own bed in a long time! Since then it has been back to work, the usual routine and keeping an eye on this little boy! He sure has a love for exploring. He crawls from room to room just checking everything out and it is definitely a fun stage. You can just see his little mind learning. He is becoming quite social, waving at people in stores and carrying on his own little monologue. He can stand for a few seconds at a time and cruise, but no real walking yet. I've also decided not to start my new job. After a few more weeks of mulling it over the timing just didn't seem right. It was stressing me out, and I am already feeling a little stretched thin without adding an additional job title to my name. I much rather put that energy into being a mommy and wife, because those two things are more important to me. Summer seems to be flying by and we are as busy as ever. Jake will be taking another trip soon and the days seem to keep flying by!

8 Months

At the risk of sounding like a broken record I want to take a minute to document all the big boy things Jameson is up to these days so that in 10 years down the road I can remember these little things. I am a poor historian, I admit. So here we go...

1. He can drink from a sippy cup
2. He can eat table food
3. We had to lower his crib, which btw, I hate! No more one last kiss on the noggin before bed and no kiss goodbye before work.
4. He no longer wants to use his infant tub, he wants to use the whole bath tub.
5. He can pull up and even do a little cruising. I love how he likes to follow me from room to room
6. He has transitioned to his convertible carseat, though still rear facing.

This weekend will mark 8 months old for our little guy and it just seems like he has changed so much in the last month or so. Right now he loves to try and feed himself (I haven't braved letting him wield the spoon), playing in the pool, taking walks around the neighborhood and exploring all corners of the house. He loves wires! Of course, just like his Dad. He likes to chase the dogs and sit at the back door looking outside. I haven't checked his weight in a while but he appears to be thinning out, but I'm sure it's due to his increase in activity and getting taller. The kid eats three meals a day, and still takes 4 bottles. We are between two and three naps a day depending on our schedule and still sleeping about 12-13 hours at night.

We are gearing up for a family vacation to Florida so things may be pretty quiet here on the blog front, but don't worry, we'll be back soon! Happy 4th of July!
